Slow Down
Breathe in deep, breathe out slow.
Run fast; faster.
They tell us “Don’t stop running,”
“Never stop running.” We never stop.
And as we run, the pictures flash.
Here flash the flowers blooming bright.
Here flash the airplanes taking flight.
Here flash those feelings in our hearts;
We feel so loved, and brave, and smart.
Here flash the…slow down!
No, not so fast!
We need to make these moments last!
But the world keeps flashing by and by,
What can we do but sit and cry?
Cry for the memories,
Cry for the past,
Cry for the instants that ended too fast.
Cry for what we could do
And cry for who we could be
If Time would only slow down
Just a second for you and for me.
