Our Time: 1931
We watch the train as it goes by,
Knowing that we’ve missed it.
It’s okay that we missed it though,
Because we only wanted to flatten our pennies,
And seaglass.
The train stopped so we would have to wait by the tracks.
We ran back to the house
which sat near the edge of the tracks,
And we played softball.
The old yellow shutters are cracked with our worries,
So we pick up our flattened pennies before heading inside.
