Not Ready
People pass me by on a road that I’m not ready to take,
Foot on the gas for just a moment leads to more mistakes,
Trying to catch up with the lives of friends who continue to pass me by
Unable to let up for a moment without having to say goodbye
My heart leads me to believe that friends I love will wait,
Will look behind and slow their pace to protect me from my mistakes,
Will stay with me to dry the tears of frustration that I shed
Will keep the flow of negative thoughts from torturing my head
Friends I love with lives to lead keep on passing by,
With every mistake that slows me down I’m forced to say goodbye
Foot on the gas for only a moment and my world is spinning around
It’s all I can do to move ahead instead of going down.
