Waiting for My Time
I sit by the window in my room
One that I share with many others
I see children come and go as time goes by
It does not bother me when they come for I know
How they feel—afraid
They’re afraid that they will never leave this house
And get adopted by someone who will
Love and care for them unconditionally
I’m much bothered though
When they pack their bags and go
To a home that they can call their own
All I feel is envy and hatred
Towards them—the lucky ones
For I am much older and I don’t know
If my time will ever come
All I can do is sit here and wait
Wait for my time
When I will get the news that someone
Wants me, to love me, and care for me
I hope that time comes soon though
Because no one is destined to live forever
No one wants someone too old
For they have a mind of their own
I’m waiting for my time
When they come and take me away
And free me from the agonizing fear
That I will stay here forever
And die alone

This poem is fantastic, although sad...
