Soda Pop
I am a soda pop.
So please don’t leave me open too long.
Drink me quickly
Hurry and drink me!
Drink me
Before I become warm.
Flat.
Tasteless.
And when the contents are spent
Throw out the can.
Leave me empty and dented
Where your fingers pressed too hard.
Because that’s all I am, right?
Something to throw out.
Dispensable.
Something to kick and dent
When you’re frustrated…
Fine, I can take it.
But remember that I’m still a soda pop.
So don’t shake me up.
Unless, of course, you want Mnt. Dew
All over your front.
Because I will explode.
I will Burst.
I will make a mess of things.
So treat me carefully.
And remember I really am a tasty drink.
But put under pressure
I could ruin your clothes.
I could make a stain
On your lovely white reputation.
And you and I both know
That bleach for a reputation
Is hard to come by.
