I Wrote To You Today
I wrote to you today,
hoping for a sign,
maybe a touch from your hand,
or whisper from your lips.
I wrote to you today,
a thousand lonely words written in bloody letters.
I wrote a note to you today,
with a pen in my hand,
I poured my heart out.
Each sentence
to remind me of how important you were.
I wrote to you today,
filled with lost hopes
and forgotten dreams.
You'd tell me to go find them,
but it's too late to catch them now.
I wrote to you today,
saying goodbye over a million times,
savoring each line,
remembering the sweet taste of your presence,
suddenly I got lost in a different time..
I wrote to you today,
signed by your best friend,
addressed to someone who isn't there anymore,
sent to a place called nowhere.
I wrote to you today,
put it in a bottle,
threw it in the ocean,
watched our love rise to the surface,
just to get lost in the dead waves.
I wrote to you today,
threw it in the ocean,
put on my fake smile,
and walked away.
