Daddy Issues
When I was young
Before the fights
Father told me
I could fly
He said I could soar
And make the world watch
As my wings spread wide
And my smile too
He told me I was special
Better than all the other little girls
He said he loved me
More than anyone ever could
But now that I am older
And the fights come and gone
And my wings are scarred and broken
I realize Father lied
I never had a chance to fly
The world would not watch
My smile would not spread wide
And all along I think to myself
Why is it that I cannot fly?
And then I remember
Father took away my flight.
