Aye Winter!-
force thy dewdrops near the frozen pond
("waterbirds sing thy song in skies of gray")
resting numbly on earthy sod;
to hide in coverts beneath sun drenched rays-
fleetingly trapped in Spring's forays.
Aye Winter!-
thaw out from thy haughty blue
("frostbitten with Spring's delay")
into pigments of a greener hue;
to entice many a girl bearing old peignoir
from their loving-beds in fields afar.
Aye Winter!-
when owls drift to wooden nests
("hunt so savagely for thy prey")
beating wings of epic zest;
make room for time's vernal arrival
by boasting your manner, so servile.
