Do They Care?
The cries of the Nazis
Are too well known.
“LINE UP! FASTER!”
CRACK. The gun punctuates their words.
The cries of the Nazis
Are too well known.
Does the world not know?
Or do they just not care?
No one speaks.
No one moves.
No one wants to be the first target,
Of those hungry, hungry guns.
Silence, silence
Waiting for the next crack of a gun.
Silence, silence
Has the world lost its voice?
Or do they just not care?
All I see, as far as I can see
Is people. My people,
Lined up here against this wall.
I shut my eyes
Darkness, darkness? Not wanting to see the falling bodies.
Darkness, darkness
Has the world gone blind?
Or do they just not care?
I want to cover my ears
But my hands are stuck up here against the wall.
CRACK, CRACK
I want to block out all sound
The sound of my mother’s screams
The sound of my brother’s moans
CRACK, CRACK
Has the world gone deaf?
Or do they just not care.
