When you want to learn to appreciate
Not have to learn to preserve and hesitate
To walk on a world that has been gifted to our race
To stomp and frolic and run and embrace
Watch rain make the Earth spring for May
And autumn turn the red and yellow leaves away
I want the world to see my children
And to laugh in the face of death of fire and its siren
I want you to know what it’s like
To breath fresh air holding the scent of honeysuckle
Remembering the smell of my first honeysuckle and wanting more
Like a distant memory I had never experienced before
