Beauty and the Beast
I’ve closed myself
In this tiny box
I’ve throw out the key
And fastened the lock
I watch the world
As it passes me by
Not a single glance
Not a single goodbye
Who is she?
They wonder
She’s quiet
She’s meek
The walls keep her hidden
She’s small
She’s discreet
So I let them wonder
And peer through the cage
At the creature who stares back
Neither in fit nor in rage
But I leave it to you
In my greatest applause
To relinquish the barriers
To brighten the cause
Only you could dig so far
Beneath the surface
To let out the being
With a pure, divine purpose
Only you could perch me
On the side of your arm
And show me to the people
As your lucky charm
Only you could let love prevail
When there was nothing else
Worth fighting
Only you could un-box the beast
And let her be the your beauty
