"Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing." ~Camille Pissarro

The words land with a thud
And clumsily position themselves
Between unspoken hurt and pounding silences
They sit expectantly, waiting for the show
But there is none
There is no soothing reply to appease them
No how-to book or steps to follow
No way in or out or over or around
No gentle lie
Or simple truth
Nothing but what has been so clearly known
So clearly enunciated in the silent darkness
Of a lonely mind
And a wandering heart
There is nothing to say to three simple words
“I am lost”

"You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye." (Matthew 7:5) and "All the poeple who supported slavery were free, all the people who support abortion live..."

Love. Awesome imagery. Just...you took my words. I can't even...comprehend...beautiful.

Beautifully written. Such creativity and broad ways of expressing these emotions in words powerful in a short poem. Ingenious. Clearly deserved the eyes of magazine readers everywhere.

As an 81 year old retired English teacher and poet, currently teaching a course in modern poetry at our senior center, I am truly excited by the creativity and insights of the young people engaged in the art of composing a poem and with their success in honing such fine work. They are  also lucky to have outlets for their work like Teen Ink.
