so close
Surrounded by dark
Blinding you from reality
The winding, never ending tunnel
All hope is lost
Something flickering at the end of the hole
The sudden light is painful to look at
But the desire to be warm takes over
You reach and try to pull yourself toward it
It’s almost close enough to grab
If only you could reach one more inch
Just one more step forward
The dark is clutching to your legs
Pulling your arm back toward your body
Making it impossible to reach the light
Slowly the light drifts away
You try to lift your hand to grasp it
The darkness it pinning it to your side
Not even your scream can pierce through the wall of black
Light is fading
Your left alone in the horrifying nothingness
You were so close
