Why We Walk
What if all we can do is fly-
On broken feet, run, take flight
Open mouths and scream
To the endless eternity above us.
What if we were meant to soar
But long ago
Our fairy dust was stolen
In an attempt to keep us grounded
So we wouldn’t pollute the
Sun, too.
What if soon we’ll shine
From every surface of our skin
A blinding,
Terrifying,
Beautiful light-
What if we end the what ifs
And live.
