Grandparents
When you were little they took care of you,
When it was your birthday they paid for your party,
When they asked how your day was you changed the subject.
People always say "Get to know your Grandparents because you never know when they'll leave this Earth."
We ignore those people,
And why?
Because we believe that they'll be around for a long time,
Not knowing that death may be just around the corner.
And when they're gone we're left with regrets.
Regrets that continue to pile on top of each other.
The time we never spent with them,
The talks we never had with them,
The times we never asked them about their childhood,
Places you wanted to go with them,
Events you wanted them to be there for.
The list goes on and on.
And now it's too late.
And your wishing you had more time with them.
That you could turn back the clock,
Do things over.
But you can't
Because it's too late.
And their gone.
