I Want to Read Something
I want to read something.
Something original.
Something new.
Something creative.
Something I can get behind.
I want to read something like nothing I have ever seen before.
I don't want to read the same poem I've see everywhere else.
I don't want to read a boring, overdone love story that I've read a thousand times.
And I certainly don't want to read about someones journey through life.
That's why it's their journey.
I want to read something that breaks barriers and pushes boundaries.
Something that lights up my imagination and makes me want to be a better writer.
Something with style and grace.
Something with vitality and essence.
Something that has a life of its own.
But we don't have things like that anymore.
And if we do, it's buried deep beneath the mounds of pointless, lifeless poems that are pumped out everyday by people looking to shoot to the top.
And they do! These so called "best poems" are the same ones you read all the time.
They have no soul to them.
They have originality.
They are the same thing that everybody eats up.
Why do people love them so much?
So I'm gonna write this poem, and guess what?
Nobody is gonna like it.
Nobody is gonna remember it.
It won't be published in any magazines.
Why?
Because it's not the same poem that everyone else has written.
People don't like things that are different.
I don't care.
I don't care if people hate this.
I don't care if 3 people read this.
I don't care if I get one star for this.
I know I'm right.
I hope you do, too.
So if you are reading this, give it a shot!
Write something people will remember.
Write something people will want to emulate.
Write something people have never seen before.
Just don't write something that everyone has already seen.
Write something that I want to read.
Please.
