When Autumn Comes
When autumn
comes
forgotten like an
old school paper
the sound of
laughter
racing to the
park
falling through
the rusted sprinkler
glistened with the
brightening sun
filling slowly
with impatience
the shallow
pool
with rainbow fish
petty wishes
asked without
concern
lemonade and
orange slices
bare feet dancing
across the hot
sand
careful not to
step on a
bee
when autumn
comes
we lay our
heads down
at night
and laugh
