Memories
City lights invite you to
Reminisce as the
Bus bumps along the
Road
And your face is warm
But your hands are cold
And you expected tears but
For now you just
Bask in the glow
And the lights are off and
All around are whispered conversations
And soft snores
Of people hugging blankets
And you’re holding a hoodie
And your face is
Buried in a
Blanket and
There’s no comfortable
Way to sleep so
You just sit and dream
And think
And smile at knowing you’re
Surrounded by people who care
And the lights come on but
Moaned protests shut them off again
And now you’re finally getting to sleep and
You shift sideways until
You know that there’s someone
Beside you
And your head falls onto
The shoulder of a
Pretty boy
Sitting next to you
Who grabs your arm
As you start to slip
And you flush and you’re
Embarrassed but he
Assures you that it’s fine
You walk into the light
Where everyone else
Stands
Half asleep and
Happy
Rubbing sleepy eyes and
Holding hands
And there are hugs but
Still no
Tears and
You don’t understand
But it’s okay
It’s too late
Too early
For thinking
So you wave your goodbyes
Could that really
Be
The
End.
