A Silver Ring
Fiddling with my fingers,
I looked down at my thumb.
The clock ticked on.
My tongue felt numb.
The white skin was tanning,
The band almost gone,
Leaving no mark,
Of what I once had on.
Search had been futile.
Money spent on more.
Memories flooded within me,
A key to a back door.
I had found it,
Had put in on,
The silver shining stronger,
The years moving along.
I got up,
Thoughts fading away,
But life had to go on,
Night after day.
Someone, somewhere,
Fate would bring,
To find what I had lost,
A silver ring.
