Losing Minds, Finding Hope
am losing my mind, just like the others.
Only knowing what I have been told, which isn’t enough.
The planes are loud, with earsplitting engines.
They flit across the sky, and instill fear into us.
I am misplaced inside this tattered dirt trench.
Seeing only faces of perplexity, and hopelessness.
Barely feeling the waterless, flaky grains dig into my tense skin.
I hear no movement, only sighs of speechlessness.
I am lost in myself, slowly slithering away.
All my surroundings are very eerily closing in.
The sand, explosions, and sighs mysteriously disappear.
Now all that I am left with is an inevitable choice.
Stay lost inside the broken trenches of war or, discover the hope within.
