"If I knew where poems came from, I'd go there"

- Michael Langley, 'Staying Alive'

Some say the world will end in fire,
Still others say ice
I dare to disagree with either
The world shall end in fright

Skullcaps on the ground,
Severed limbs on the merry-go-round
Chunks of gray in the undeads teeth
Sucking blood to wash it down

First a moan and then a groan,
Followed by a limp run
A pound to shatter glass,
And then, alas!
Your life is as good as gone.

The sun will rise
The moon control the ocean tide
Haley’s comet will make its rounds
No one will see though,
The undead rule this town

Ships won’t sail,
The free world’s gone,
Mr. President was the first to go
So long

Funerals gone wrong
Mosh pits devoid of breath
Say goodbye to your lover now,
For the night is over yet

Some say the world will end in fire
Still others say ice
I dare to disagree with either
The world shall end in fright

Kiss the small ones goodnight
And tuck them in tight
Don’t bother checking the closet for monsters
They’ll be there with the first light

Campfire songs and pranks on counselors
Are gone before summers end
S'mores, stories, all shall cease
Welcome to Camp Undead

Big Brother won’t watch you,
Library books won’t be overdue
Jay-walking on the rise
Tickets no longer given for speeding- what a surprise!

They’re bidding their time
Building up strength
The undead will be rising
For they have no reason to delay

It may not be today,
It may not be tomorrow
But soon they shall come
And the world won’t have time to be startled

The undead want you
Not for your looks, but your mind
Those who argued will be happy soon
How you look, it won’t increase your time

Some say the world will end in fire
Still others say ice
I dare to disagree with either
The world shall end in fright

Zombies will rule the world
No fear of dying out
Live for and love today, tomorrow, and the next
For soon the living dead will attack

"In the beginning, the universe was created. This has made a lot of people angry and been widely regarded as a bad idea."
--Douglas Adams

Hilarious, and yet slightly freaky and depressing. You have achieve a balance between making us all laugh and making us all cower, and that balance is great! I love this poem, because you have taken a common superstition and put it into verse. Great poem!
