April 4th, 2012
I escaped from the stifling upstairs room
flew down the stairs to hear the faint strains of two cellos
There was a party going on
and she told me the car was unlocked
I ran straight into the night
(a very, very warm night)
and the April showers
caressed me.
I tried the passenger door, but it was locked
opened the side door and retrieved my book
Holding onto the book, I spread out my arms
and under the warm April showers
I danced.
Later that night, the party was over
I watched some TV and then went to bed
(though I still had work to do)
An Irishman sang me to sleep
and in my dreaming state
the warm April showers caressed me
and I danced.
