The green
Leaves
Of the trees
Sway back and forth
In the July breeze.

The sun set
Over the bay
Makes this
The most beautiful
Place on earth.
With the red, orange,
And purple filling the evening sky
And the reflection off the water
Painting a perfect picture.
The blue waves
Of Lake Michigan
Crash into shore
Creating white caps
From the wind,
Blowing from the east.

The gray gravel crunches
Under my Nikes
As I walk
Through the trails
Spooking the white tails

The smell of bonfire
Fills my nostrils.
Burgers, hot dogs, and chicken
Are being cooked
Over the flames
My taste buds water like a river
At the juicy smell.

I lay back in my chair
Late at night
My body is kept heated
From the orange
And red flames
In front of me.

Late night jokes
And stories around
The crackling campfire
As laughs fill the silent air.

This space
Is my space
Where I can relax
Let everything go
And not have to
Worry about a thing.
Monument Point Campground,
Is my place.
