the Past
I envy the past. It seems that everyone had a purpose, a destiny
Aeneas had a city to create
Perseus, to obliterate the Gorgon tyranny
And Hippocrates had the sick to alleviate.
Soldiers fought for the country and for valor
Pioneers adventured through the newfound lands
Jesters stumbled across the rooms for laughter
And Film makers breathed life into wonderlands.
Each man had a role in presence
Lived his entire life not knowing anything else
Stuck in his own little world, stuck in a limited existence
And wanting nothing more than a good health.
Yet, as I sit here thinking about the good ole’ days of the past
I realize, there is nothing that is better than the present gleams
Because the looking back on the past lets me grasp
That the present truly allows me to chase my dreams.
