Stop and Stare
Stop and stare, because I think he’s so cute; as he walks over there.
I think to meet his eyes, and I think to turn away my head, and keep away the fireflies.
Softer than the sun your complexion is. Please hold your hand in mine.
As I walk away, I think to hide my face. I keep my face downturned and hope you don’t wonder why.
So you won’t see what I have to hide. I hope you don’t see the picture and its emptiness. My missing piece is you.
You fill the holes I carry with me in my heart. Tell the truth, don’t run, and don’t hide behind the iron walls of this broken smile.
