Skating On The Creek

The snow is brushing off my rosy cheek,
as I skate a figure eight down on the ice by the creek.

The chilly breeze making my moves so hard to complete,
my old skates bringing blisters upon my feet.

My mind feels so pure, so clear,
there is nothing better than moving so freely on ice, it is as though it shows no fear.

The adrenaline feels so outgoing when i jump into the air,
I just don’t stop and keep spinning without a care.

As I twirl in circles I see nothing but white,
and when the night gets darker, the coloured lights bring such delight.

When I come into the house I miss the ice and it takes forever to get warm and snug,
But I do enjoy the melting marshmallows in my hot chocolate-filled mug.

The snowflakes outside look so beautiful I just don’t know what to say,
but I cannot wait to get up and skate on yet another day.

I wrote this piece because I love winter and all of its joys and activities and I think it is amazing to see people skating, and this poem just make me feel warm inside.
