Sitting on the corner
Living life alone
Independent

My eyes wonder across the street
I see the faces
Hear the whispers
The buzz of the words
Feel the hurt
My heart melts with every word
I am human

I did not choose this
I did not choose to live on the street
I did not choose to be jobless
I did not choose to starve

If it were up to me I would be on the other side of the glass
For once they could be the animals behind it
Knowing that they did not choose this.
