Flames
It's not what you say
But what your heart says to me
When I close my eyes
I don't see your face
Or your lies
I see the goodness of your heart
And I love that always
And when you make me cry
I just wanna die
And breath hope into your hopelessness
Life into your lifelessness
When other flames grew cold
Our flame never grew old
Others come and go
But this I've come to know
You can't pick the ripest apple
And expect second best just as sweet
You can't sit among fireflies
And pretend city lights just as the yellow streaks
You can't wish upon a plain old star
Using all that you are
And expect the wish to come true.
