Dad's Reckless Driving
I don’t understand you
You don’t understand me.
Yet we share the blood—nose—bone structure
Of a family.
Your driving—terribly reckless—
Makes me want to cry.
Because I grind my teeth when my engine grinds
Going Up.
Up
Up
Your loud voice—harsh, grating
Spikes my cat fur high
But you are getting old
While I am getting young,
And two generations apart
Separates the tongue.
I do not love your atrocious driving,
You do not love it when I lie,
But I love you for your trying
And you’ll love me until I die.
