Ode To the Bench Under the Tree
I sit here
Under my tree
Iron feet
Roots to the ground
So many have come
And then, gone
Some stay for hours
Others not for long
I watch them
Under my tree
Lives touching
Roots to the ground
The young couple
Lean in, kiss
Save this moment
Remember this
The days go
Under my tree
Memories made
Roots to the ground
A small young girl
Ice cream, sweet
Wasting summer
In sticky heat
Leaves will drop
Under my tree
Snow will fall
Roots to the ground
They will pass by
Leave, forget
But I remember
Save what they’ll Regret
I sit here
Under my tree
Iron feet
Roots to the ground
