Paralyzed
I just lay there.
Unable to budge.
What had happened?
I heard my name yelled some five feet away from me.
“Janet! Janet, talk to me!”
I recognized the voice.
Mom.
I tried. Oh, I tried so hard to respond to her cries.
But, I couldn’t. I couldn’t move a muscle.
I wanted to tell her I knew she was there, but I had no choice but to lie there,
Surrounded by the shards of glass.
As I closed my eyes, I heard the ambulance.
I’m going to be okay.
