A Better Place
On the cold ground he suffers, starving from the lack of affection.
Faces pass, as well as the lonely hearts unable to take him to a batter place.
An angry mob of bodies stomp allover, crushing his already broken bones.
He cries, no, he screams for one of the many avoiding faces, no luck.
Without hesitation, disbelief, ignorance, someone comes along to heal him.
She is an astonishing sight. Placing her hands over his heart, she waits.
A tinted blue glow appears, rising into the dark and mysterious skies.
The skies brighten, shining brighter than the stars smothering the night.
The young boy stands without a single hesitant, weakened stream of thought.
Step by step, he climbs the golden staircase leading to his new home.
He takes the girl's hand, never feeling a need to walk alone again.
Everyone pauses. They stop. They stare into thin air, nothing in sight.
Confusion strikes their uneasy minds, as if they have seen a ghost.
It must all be in their heads, their imagination. Or is it?
