Where I Was Born
This is the place where I was born,
This house is older than I,
These walls have watched me as I've grown,
They've heard my laughs and cries.
These floors are where I learned to walk,
The hall is where I fell
And broke my nose against the clock,
and it began to swell.
Don't take from me this precious place,
I've known for oh so long,
Around the block we used to race,
Inside we sang our songs.
Keep it here until I die,
Until the floorboards rot,
So I can still walk or drive by,
This sentimental spot.
