Some Girls
Some girls want to hear words like
"I love you"
Or
"You're beautiful"
Or
"Marry me."
I prefer things like
"I have pizza"
Or
"Let's watch Doctor Who"
Or
"Let's get a cat."
Some girls get ecstatic
When they're given
Flowers
Or chocolates.
I dream of the day
A man will surprise me
With Double Stuf Oreos
Or a bottle of bubbles.
Some girls envision their perfect date
As a candlelight dinner
Or a romantic walk on the beach
With fireworks and champagne.
I'd much rather have a Nerf gun battle
Or a Harry Potter marathon
Complete with snacks and flannel pajamas.
Some girls live
In strappy high heels
And short skirts.
I'm much more comfortable
In sturdy high tops
And jeans.
Some girls spend their time
Shopping and trying new hair styles.
My days are full of
Scrolling through Tumblr and Googling "cats."
Some girls love being deemed
"Babe"
Or
"Girlfriend"
Whereas I prefer titles like
"Fangirl"
Or
"Facebook admin."
I may not be like most other girls.
I cry over fictional characters,
I prefer books and food to boys,
I daydream about running away with the Doctor,
I spend more time on the internet than not.
But I'm not ashamed.
I much prefer being the
Obsessive
Lazy
Always hungry
Person I am
Over being what
Society
Claims to be a
"Normal"
Teenager
