Seasons
Spring
Love is blooming
Hearts fluttering
Like butterflies
Fresh out of their cocoons
Gazes fleeting
Like dragonflies
Ephemeral
One moment here
The next moment there
Time apart
Means
Time tearful
Time wasted
Summer
Love is growing
Passionate
And rich
And steady
As the sun smiles warmly
And the grass
Couldn’t be greener
And the waves break
Against the shore
Forward
Back
Forward
Back
Rhythmic
As two hearts that beat
As one
Autumn
Love is fading
The leaves are changing colors
Once green
Now brown
Embraces are monotonous
Routine
Like raking
Or sleeping
Kisses grow colder
As the earth cools too
Winter
Love is dying
Iced over
A cold sheet of indifference
As that one heart
Splits
Back into two
And the passion
Disintegrates
Like snow
On tongue’s tip
Perishes
Like plants
Left out overnight
We all have a beginning
We all have an end
And in the middle
That’s
This thing we call life
This thing we call love
Blooming
Growing
Fading
Dying
Like the seasons
