Dear Momma
Momma, lie to me one more time.
I don’t want to live in this superficial world.
Take me back to fairytales and happy endings.
I don’t like what I see:
Sixteen year olds pregnant,
Young boys aspiring to be rappers,
Young girls starving themselves,
Grown men caressing children,
And children dropping out of school.
What has this world come to?
It isn’t getting any better.
So Momma, how will our story end?
Take me back to fairytales and happy endings.
Break the spell,
for we are doomed.
Where is my fairy godmother to save me?
The clock has struck twelve.
