BRIGHTER
Hiding is usually done out in the open.
In front of the person
From whom you wish to escape
With insides twisting
And toes curling in
You lie
And then smile
And then slink back further into your hiding spot
Hide
Quick
Before they come with torches
Shine the light brighter on your hiding spot
So that they cannot see
Cannot find you
Hide
Quite
Don’t let your soul speak
Keep it quiet
Don’t speak your mind
Speak from your hiding spot
Shine the light
Hide further back to the front
And retreat within yourself
Until there is nothing left but your very essence
And then hide that too
Because they can’t know
Don’t let them know
Hide right in front of them
Shine your light brighter
