Cigarettes & China
Blood drips from fists
tainted red with the buzz
of too many late night cigarettes
and loss.
Suicide rolls around her mouth,
sweet as sugar
and broken as the bird's wings
dropped from the balcony window.
Too easy
to pull veins from the wrists
of dogs left sleeping in the night,
and to scoop skin off of coffee gone cold.
Too easy
to break china promises
cold as the stone they were set in,
assured they would last.
