The Only Place He Knows
The rain devours his dark silhouette,
Clashing with the raven heavens,
His eyes glance down,
To the waves that unravel themselves,
Calling him in,
Uncertainty flashes through him,
Like the petrifying lightening above,
Wind pushes him towards the agonizingly black liquid,
He contemplates,
Pondering,
Then takes one step into the air,
He flies,
To the only escape he knows,
Wings sprout from his hunched back,
He smiles for the first time,
And,
Moans of anguish arise on the silent pier,
Then die down.
