The gun rang out through the city
Stopping.
Fear on their faces
Sirens off and running toward the scene.
He fell to the ground, with a smash
Dead. Joel was dead.
Paul ran from the scene. Ashamed.
Running faster from the ally way
Paul ran.
Fear on his face as well.
Sirens closer now police on the scene.
Heart pounding in Paul, heart stopped in Joel
Our peaceful neighborhood would never be the same.
The blue ribbons on the trees
A reminder of that day
The gun rang out through the city
Dead. Joel was dead.
