Fire Away
Secrets flutter wildly like moths to light.
Deceit fills the halls, never interrupted by the bell.
Whispers travel from mouth to ear,
Traveling inches, feet, and even miles.
The internet is public record of my mistakes,
I cannot take it back with a simple apology.
I am tainted by ignorance.
The red target on my back is temporary,
But the days pass slowly.
Push through the alienation or succumb to depression.
I embrace the pungent air of the school,
Wiping off each insult like a tiny raindrop.
I just want them to know that they didn't break me.
