The Struggle
Oh, I see every day
People giving in
Making bad decisions
Fighting with each other
Even though we’re here together
I swear, if these walls could talk.
Oh, the things they would tell
The story of another place,
A place we did not know.
My senses overwhelmed now.
The hatred closing in
But I cannot give up
To win I must struggle
Everyday I’m close to giving in.
With paralyzing pleasure, fear closes in.
Fear is the night.
Trying to grab, and take away
The last single shred of hope.
Fear closes in as fast as the cheetah.
Shutting out the lights.
I try so, so hard.
Losing hope all my days.
Wondering why this happened to me.
But I hold on, holding on tight
Our hope is what keeps us together
Hope fights the doomed despair
Hope strikes at the heart of the darkness.
The reason to live is hope
But this doesn’t happen always,
There’s always a few
Just like me,
And you.
Who hold on to what we believe in.
