The Big Game
I put my clothes on and get ready to play,
Then we drive off to my basketball game.
We start to warm up for the last game of the season,
I’ve been waiting for this game since the year started.
We get in the gym and get ready for a jump ball,
Lars tipped it of to me.
I dribbled slowly and set up the play,
Swish! The crowd roars as I make my first shot.
We play well but were down by three,
I knew that I had to do something,
I went for the shot and it made,
But it was also a fowl.
Now it was a tie and the clocked stopped,
The game was over and it was a tie,
But the ref says stop he gets a free throw.
It was me on the line with the weight of the team on my back,
I had one shot and one shot only.
It was silent if you dropped a needle it would ring.
I shot the ball and it went so slow,
You could hear its sound on the net as it went swish.
My team leaped for joy because we won that game,
And I’m favored by all for that game I saved.
