Wondeful Sacrifice
My mind couldn't fathom what I saw that night
Who in their right mind would commit such a deed?
You lay there, trembling, your hands gripped tight,
Possessing a treasure in desperate need.
I stroked your fine hair, gazed into your eyes
And uncurled your fingers, the touch giving me a start.
Within your soft palm layed fragments, small in size
of something you gave, your delicate heart.
You trusted that it'd be looked after, treated with care
yet for some reason or other, they gave it up.
I tried to heal you, with kisses so fair.
But you needed a heart , not bad memories to corrupt.
You looked at me and smiled, handed me the pieces
I frowned, wishing I could give you what you deserve.
But it was so abused, so blatantly mistreated
that I couldn't reform it, but in other ways I could serve.
Since I couldn't fix your heart, something so divine,
I reached down to your delicate hands, and gave you mine.
