Staring Down the Unpaved Path

I crave strongly,
Desperately,
To achieve a level of simplicity,
In my life.

I thirst understanding,
Needing
To fulfill an empty mind.
To unwind
This coil of misunderstood,
Understanding.

I wish to accept,
Recognize,
Swallow,
That young mind’s wants,
That early youth’s desires.
So as to put out that fire,
Burning,
Roaring,
In the soul of that young mind.

Gliding,
Flying,
Over bleak, painful truth.
Hiding,
Residing,
In a beautiful, hurtful lie.
That unusual truth
Spurs confusion;
I am so far from grasping,
Grasping…
What?

Independence,
The beautiful want
Shines on my dormant tulip bud
Of perpetual angst.
The rays of light,
Are warm on my petals;
Pressure from unwanted impatience,
Sears the calm within,
The strands of stress wrap themselves
Around my stem,
Squeezing,
Attempting,
To end the life of a young,
Blooming,
Flower.
Within my roots,
A slow death evolves,
A fear,
That poisons
Sanity.

I have evolved.
I stay staring down that
Unpaved path.
Yet,
I am a river,
Winding,
Wondering,
Around obstacles of grand nature,
Down paths,
Wandered,
Winded,
Down before.
The wind speaks
To me,
That necessity so needed,
Will not be revealed,
But discovered.
Time speaks,
Patience weeps,
But contentment enters
And
Calm shelters,
Avoiding the rain,
Residing within.
