A Walk In Dublin
I peer out my window
On the eve of St. Patrick's Day
There are cars whizzing by
Streets filled with bustling people
I walk outside through the front entrance
Illuminated by green lights , I find you standing there
The roads narrow as the distance between us
The streets winding askew
I take in a breath
Tasting the march breeze
Feeling the brisk air upon our reddened cheeks
I take a step with caution
The white glow of street lamps
Shimmers like silver upon the River Liffey
The water flows beneath the dim arches
And I grasp your hand as the chill sets in
The once brightened sidewalk
Had now grown dim
Empty in mind and alone in spirit
Together--we were vacant
A light drizzle begins
Water drips off the leaves of trees
Wetting the lush green grass
Gently piercing our tender faces
We diverge from the main roads
Down the ornate pathways of stone and brick
That wind through such grandiose parks and meadows
Our feet impressing upon the soft ground with each stride
Then our eyes meet as
We are drenched in each other
And just the slow pitter-patter of
our heartbeats can be heard
Just a walk on through
The rainy Dublin avenue
A walk with you
