Summer
The petite periwinkle flowers
Flooded the field,
The elegant, golden sun
Crept over the horizon
Like a sneaky thief
Coming to steal the shadows.
You wake silently,
Gracefully,
Like the tulips rise for spring.
The damp morning dew
Shrivels in the sun’s presence
And evaporates towards its
Luring light.
You fold back the covers,
Kiss me on the forehead,
And creep towards the door
Without making a sound.
You stumble onto the deck,
The flood of light disorienting,
As you struggle for a cigarette
And look out into the
Majestic, periwinkle sea.
