When We Were Young
I was three and you were four.
Two wide-eyed little girls
Life was Simpler than
napping and playing
was all we knew
tag, hot lava monster
these games filled our time
we were enchanted,
by kindergarten
we were still hopeful
of riding the same bus
I can remember waiting with anticipation
to see if we were in the same class
we became best friends
forever
we took our first trip
to the Boundary Waters
was a time
full of excitement
a new journey began
middle school
track, tennis, cross country, speech
activities we now couldn’t do without
we skied with our season passes
for the first time
This year
those wide-eyed little girls
became freshman
Now I’m fourteen and you’re fifteen
we can only grow closer
and continue our long lasting friendship
