Journey Poem: Dog Days
1.
All the worlds a fuzzy ball of unconditional love
2.
its form that wraps around four legs and a wagging tail
3.
Born with eyes sealed shut like an oyster
4.
concealing his pearl puppy dog eyes
5.
Goofy giggles are heard,
6.
faces pressed up to the glass
7.
Which smiling face will be his owner?
8.
Eight long weeks later, the decision has been made
9.
Warm, loving arms come to take the pearly-eyed puppy away. Home.
10.
After long hours of staring, what shall his name be?
11.
Picking out the perfect name is no easy task.
12.
He is named and the unbreakable bond begins to form.
13.
Puppy days continue, and when little puppy's pearls are large like lollipops,
14.
you know he's made an accident, perhaps a small puddle nearby. Potty training.
15.
After much scolding and countless minutes waiting in the yard,
16.
one day a light bulb goes of in his brain, and at last, little puppy is trained!
17.
Over sided puppy paws diminish away
18.
as little puppy grows bigger and bigger.
19.
His squeal transforms into a bark. He finds his voice.
20.
Now he snuggles in your bed and comes when you call,
21.
little puppy is not so little any more.
22.
An esteemed teen he stays by your side
23.
as the bond grows stronger and stronger, never to divide.
24.
He proves the theory of mans best friend.
25.
Aging seven years at a time, he is now old and gray
26.
like a salt and pepper mixture.
27.
You pet his wiry fur, as he looks at you with never fading pearly eyes
28.
You are older now and so is he,
29.
but the best of friends you will always be.
