My Encounter by Night
One dark night in the middle of May
I was driving home to end my day
When out my car window, to my dismay,
I saw a figure. A man-like figure
On the moon lit road blocking my way.
I needed to pass, get home to my bed
So out of the window I stuck my head
And, calm as ever, i kindly said
"sir, please step aside and let me get by"
But he just stood there as if he were dead.
Then, coming from him, I heard a groan
Whether it was human unknown
Suddenly i laughed. The truth was shown.
What was standing there? Why, it was a bear!
A fuzzy, brown creature fully grown.
That's why I smile when I think of the day
I was driving home in the middle of May
And out my car window, to my dismay
A figure was there (yes, it was a bear)
On the moon lit road blocking my way.
